Lougheed House is Calgary’s hub of history, cultural happenings, programs, and weddings.
We invite you to visit for a historic tour of the building and gardens; view the exhibits; experience a live performance by one of our cultural collaborators; dine on local, gourmet cuisine via lunch or brunch in the Restaurant; get married here; or find the perfect gift in the Museum Shop.
We also run a variety of school programs, and the house is available for private events such as family reunions, corporate receptions, and Christmas parties.
Every effort has been made to restore Beaulieu to its original look and feel of when the Lougheed family lived here. On the second floor you will find furnishings and artifacts from the turn of the 20th century, including objects original to the House. We are constantly looking for other original and period (1890-1914) pieces to help us complete these exhibits. The Restoration Room, on the second floor, details the process of the restoration of the House and Gardens to their original condition after years of many different occupants. Throughout the House you will also be able to explore information about these occupants including the Dominion Provincial Youth Training Program, the Canadian Women’s Army Corps, and The Red Cross Society. If you are interested in helping us to continue restoring and furnishing Lougheed House through donations of artifacts and furnishings, or contribute to our knowledge of other periods of the House’s history, please contact Caroline Loewen, email@example.com We would love to hear your anecdotes, memories, and stories, and would be grateful if you can share photographs or artifacts with us. Donations are essential to our collections, research, and programs.
The Lougheed House Gardens
One of the finest pleasures of a visit to Lougheed House is a stroll through the formal ‘Beaulieu Gardens.’ The Lougheeds were our community’s horticultural leaders, often winning Calgary Horticultural Society 1st prizes for many garden and lawn entries between 1908 – 1914.
Today our team of 25 passionate and knowledgeable volunteer gardeners plan, plant, nurture and harvest a wide array of flowers, fruits and vegetables that are used in the regional seasonal cuisine served at The Restaurant on site. Our gardens are one of Calgary’s largest inner-city sanctuaries of peace and nature, and are free to enjoy, seven days a week. There is grass for picnics and dog frolics (we are an “official” on-leash dog park), benches for sitting and tranquility and colour all around. Come, enjoy!
Enjoy local and fresh Lunch and Brunch creations at The Restaurant at Lougheed House. And then enjoy admission to the entire House for only $4 more (half price).
